Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbs can be helpful in treating a wide range of conditions and may extend the effects of an acupuncture treatment. Chinese Herbal Medicine is based on a rich body of knowledge developed over thousands of years of clinical practice. Chinese herbs are very safe to take, as long as they’re prescribed by an experienced practitioner with adequate experience. We have over 250 herbs in our dispensary, most of which are of plant origin.

A herbal prescription contains anywhere from 5 to 15 different herbs, tailored specifically for your health requirements. The herbs we give are typically either in pill form or powdered to be steeped in hot water. No endangered species or unethical products are used in our clinic, and we only give our patients products that are approved by the TGA.

Herbal formulas can be prepared in several different forms and are generally taken morning & night: –

RAW HERB POWDER: Raw herbs ground into a powder for ease of use. The powdered herbs are then soaked in boiling water for approx. 5min, the liquid is then strained and then can be taken. The therapeutic benefit of raw herbs are stronger, easily absorbed into the body, can be tailored to your specific needs.

GRANULES: Herbs are concentrated & powdered for ease of use, they can be simply dissolved in water & taken. Due to the manufacturing process these herbs dissolve better in water. Therapeutic benefit is comparable to raw herbs and formulas can be tailored to your specific needs..

PATENT PILLS: Traditional herbal formulas processed into pills. They are a convenient way to take herbal medicine and useful for people who are time poor or who have a sensitive palate to drinking herbs. Pills are not as potent as raw or granule herbs & less tailored.
